It just confirms how badly our banks were run for many years. They are still run by the same idiots in most cases now. Only a couple have replaced their leaders and only because they had to.

Amazing. Bunches of bankers whose institutions back the tory party to the tune of millions of pounds behave like nobility at the hellfire club, including massive fixing of Libor and etc, and that's not their job to worry about and has to be left to the independent regulators. The chairman of the tory party was investigated for fraud after setting up a company under a false name and he gets to keep his job and his seat, no questions asked. A former tory party chief advisor is currently sitting on trial in the high court for things he did which were publicised by some before they gave him the job but that was covered up and whitewashed and took years to come to light. However, The chairman of a bank loosely related to an organisation that makes donations to the labour party who was an advisor to the leader of the opposition turns out to be a bit dodgy and within a week of it coming out they're setting up an independent investigation.

What the guy did was illegal and wrong, but the sheer level of hypocrisy and political opportunism makes me retch.

While the Co-op bank board will need to sack others as well, they only got into the mess that they did because they copied the other banks. If they had not tried to grow by takeovers they might be in a much better place. Though milliband is not helping either.

Co-op bank cuts funding to charity, pays hundreds of thousands to consultancy run by former Tory advisor
