There's very little reason to stick with Apple over their competitors these days. The brand that enabled some wondrous claims was losing it's shine a bit even before Jobs' passing, with that the events don't have the drama the press craves or can sell any more, and the tech is only ever a nuts and bolts upgrade now. Siri, OS changes (you piss off as many as you entice, probably) etc don't do much for Joe Average and that's very much where the market is at now. The above all applies to Samsung and the like, so it comes down to cost and 'I fancy a change'.

Nobody ever thought Sony would convince people to buy it's phones, or that MS/Nokia could shift a few units by making everything from the interface to the colour of the phone 'in your face'. It's gonna be gimmicks until the uber battery and/or nanotech phones come along.
