Max Clifford guilty of eight indecent assaults

From the BBC:

Quote:
Publicist Max Clifford has been found guilty of eight indecent assaults on women and girls as young as 15 by a jury at Southwark Crown Court.

The 71-year-old, from Surrey, was found guilty of a string of charges over a period of nearly 20 years.

He was cleared of two charges of indecent assault, while the jury failed to reach a verdict on another charge.

Clifford was bailed until Friday when he will return for sentencing.

He was arrested by detectives from Operation Yewtree in December 2012, and charged in April the following year.

BBC home affairs correspondent Danny Shaw said the verdicts were "hugely significant" as the first Operation Yewtree conviction.

After a string of acquittals I was quite surprised to read this.

It'll be interesting to see what sentence he gets and if there'll be an appeals process of any kind. I wonder how the red tops will react; I'm sure Team Murdoch at least will be happy to put the boot in after his hacking win.

There's bound to be several appeals to various court levels. There always are.

Max Clifford jailed for eight years for indecent assaults

Quote:
Disgraced celebrity publicist Max Clifford has been jailed for a total of eight years for a string of indecent assaults against girls and young women.

On Monday the 71-year-old became the first person to be convicted under Operation Yewtree.

Sentencing the PR man, Judge Anthony Leonard said he had groomed and degraded his victims.

Earlier, the court had heard how Clifford's abuse changed the course of the four women's lives.

Out of all the celebs on trial, he was always the most suspect in my mind. He's required to be a master manipulator for his job and has years of practice covering things up

I do hope Rolf Harris isn't guilty. That would wreck my childhood memories of his TV programmes.

He'll be going away for a long stretch. Or, given the reports about his anatomy, a not so long stretch.

I thank you. I'm here all week.

Epic!

In related news, the case against Freddie Starr has been dropped. So, not everybody in showbiz from my childhood is a convicted sex pest.
