Best selling singles of 2014

    1. Pharrell Williams - 'Happy'
    2. Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne - 'Rather Be'
    3. John Legend - 'All Of Me'
    4. Mr Probz - 'Waves'
    5. Ed Sheeran- 'Thinking Out Loud'
    6. Ella Henderson - 'Ghost'
    7. Sam Smith - 'Stay With Me'
    8. Meghan Trainor - 'All About That Bass'
    9. Pitbull featuring Kesha - 'Timber'
    10. George Ezra - 'Budapest'

I'm kind of glad that the top two, like them or not, are both in essence good old fashioned pop songs with choruses you can belt out in the shower if they come on the radio :D. And neither had anything to do with Simon Cowell, as far as I know :D :D

Clean Bandit's album is currently 4 quid on iTunes and a fiver on Google Play. The mix of classical string arrangements and up to date electronica/dance doesn't always work, but when it does it can't fail to put a smile on your face. Well worth the price of a pint or two.

I take so little interest that there's only two of those I know for definite, but it really hit home the other day when the girls in work who are obsessed with 'reality' TV, 'stars', and have kids and so on said they never know who they're listening to!

I only know of one song on that list - Happy, and that came about mainly because of all the dancing videos that got made to it.
Then again, I don't listen to the radio or watch much broadcast TV or go in to many shopping areas during daylight hours, so I guess I'm just not the target audience for such music, which is fine with me.

Mark

EDIT - confusing subject is confusing. (8+)

I haven't heard of any of the artists, let alone the songs.

I've heard of a couple of the artists but heard none of the songs. I don't feel my life is any the poorer for it.
