The aboriginals are one of (if not the) oldest civilisation on the planet.

There is evdience of them going back something like 40,000 years.

Until 1770 when England came along and took everything for themselves.

Some of the stories are quite funny. The aboriginals had adopted a method of setting the brush alight so that it would keep to a minimum. They had been doing this for thousands of years until the white people (and environmentalists) told them it was against the law to set it on fire.

They stopped for a few years and then consequently had the worst brush fires they had ever seen. Wiping out thousands of animals and making some extinct. Needless to say, that is why the now have controlled burning of the brush again

If these people control the land why don't they stop people climbing it themselves, instead of relying on the Federal Government?

And Okenobi, all I can say to religion vs. "spiritual beliefs" is "tomato tomato" - which doesn't work nearly as well in writing as it does spoken aloud...

Did you not read what I wrote (or even the linked article in the OP)? They co-manage the land in partnership with the National Parks service and the two of them have come up with the proposal to stop people climbing. That has to be given the go-ahead by the federal government as national parks fall under their responsibility.

Alternatively, they could just revoke the lease they've given to the National Parks service and tell all the p!ssed up Pommy chavs to [LIFTED] off back where they came from.

Fortunately for everyone involved, they seem to have a little more class than your average tourist.

That demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the issue. Religion is an organised system of behaviours and attitudes often applied to large groups of people where in many cases the actual "faith" underpinning the system is less important than the system itself.

These people are not the catholic church. They do not attempt to convert the rest of the world. They do not disrespect or make war upon other people based on their beliefs. They have a genuine, symbiotic relationship with the land they inhabit and deserve to be treated with deference and respect.
