BBC defends reality show involving poor, dubbed 'Hunger Games' | Media | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/m ... nger-games

Hunger Games is seriously pushing it, but nobody in their right mind believes it's a social experiment or any of that bollocks. Of course they could go truly meta and include former The Voice 'winners'... but it'll still be an excuse to feel good about being in a slightly better economic position. It sounds like a televised Daily Mail article in reverse.

I'm really hopeful this sort of idiocy will weaken the grip of 'reality TV'. And the Beeb's actually the worst for it - a recent Watchdog lookback show attempted to copy Gogglebox ffs.

I know it's not related (hopefully) but I find it more than coincidental that less than a couple of weeks after the conservatives were voted back in that suddenly the poor are now pitted against each other like some sort of gladiatorial entertainment from the Roman times.

I would fully expect Cameron to be there at the end with a thumbs up/down deciding whether the winner put on a good enough show to take the prize.

Lol!

Wait until you see the NHS Trust managers in It's A Health Crisis Knockout.
