Discovery/Eurosport get Exclusive Olympics rightsBe interesting to see how this goes in the UK, where The Olympics is a Protected Event. Is Eurosport available on Freeview?

Is Eurosport a 'free' channel on Sky? Is that how they might get around this?

Since when? I always used to watch it on freeview here in Germany (Eutelsat?) But I must admit, I haven't watched a sport channel since 2007.

It looks like it isn't. Paid package on Sky.

Yep, it looks like since they were bought out by Discovery, that their free to air service has disappeared.

It‘s on one of the paid for packages on Virgin Media as well. They also show a lot of Olympia horse antics at Christmas, which makes the wife happy. So the Olympics aren’t one of the protected “crown jewels” which have to be aired on free to view channels in the UK then.

Politically risky meddling with free to air transmission of the Olympics.

Indeed. If it's not on freeview there could be issues. I'll be pissed off if I miss the boarder cross at the next winter olympics.

+1. Plus they'll have Big Air for the first time. That would be awesome television.
