Private sector to fund counter-terrorism training centre | UK news | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015 ... re-bedford

All I could think when I read about the live-fire houses was the SAS's 'killing house', where even they've got it wrong and actually killed people during training.

Quote:
Andrew Young, the NFTTC’s director of marketing and a former RAF officer, said: “While the British police and military have some of the best personnel and training facilities in the world, increasing demand means that there isn’t enough capacity for all their needs. What we’re offering is a centre of excellence to bridge that gap.”

Specialist needs maybe, but considering how many of our service members have been sacked since 2010...

The solution to 'vital military training facility is short of resources' is not 'give that facility more resources' it's 'allow the private sector to do it instead'?

Effing wept.

That's entirely consistent with the governments desire to shrink the state.
After all, if it's good enough for the NHS why the hell wouldn't they try it with other stuff?
