Commons passes 'English vetoes for English laws' plan | Politics | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... -laws-plan

It's a typically kneejerk Tory action that will do nothing but create unnecessary misery and division.

Personally I am in favour

Although if you look at it the whole of the house of commons will still vote on the Bill its just that only English MP's will debate it and be able to put up amendmentss

Something needed (still needs) to be done about the "West Lothian Question"

The most equitable solution would have been to create a devolved English parliament. What we've got doesn't deliver an adequate answer to the WLQ and if anything will hasten the dissolution of the UK as it hands the SNP more ammunition to say that the voice of the Scottish people is being ignored however true that actually is. It also kind of gives the Tories effective control of England in perpetuity which my cynical brain thinks was the goal all along.

It's half arsed.
If it's English only laws, then the Scots MP's have no business voting on them at all.

Except that the bill that is truly England-only is a rare beast indeed.

Anything that has a cost implication has a potential Scotland implication.
