Fingerprint readers have always been a bad idea, it's just these days the methods are less painful than having a digit or two removed.

It seems to be getting easier. The iPhone reader was hacked within days of it coming onto the market, it used the same trick used to fool readers at the beginning of the Century, but needed a higher resolution photo of the fingerprint, but the molten Gummibear to mold the fingerprint with was still the same.
