There'd have to be, you still can't charge any mainstream electric car in under 30 minutes.

Plus the comparison is spurious, you're comparing charging points to petrol stations. Pretty much every petrol station will have between 4 and 16 petrol 'charging points' and each use takes a minute or two at most. In terms of throughput they're still not in the same league.

Increasing the number of charging points is a Very Good Thing. as is the fact electric cars are coming down in price. But this kind of idiotic hyperbole helps no one. It makes the electric car lobby sound desperate.

Well, that forces the driver to take a break, so can’t be a bad thing. If you go on an “out of range” journey, you need to be sure that you can get to a charging point, and that your journey time allows for these breaks.

Quite a lot of electric cars have a mode on the satnav which effectively does that, plots a route to the destination where there's a charging station waypoint in the route if necessary. Course that may mean the journey is longer than in a petrol car and if you're going to say the far highlands of Scotland, you're going to end up taking a pretty circuitous route. And praying nobody's already using the charging point when you get there.

Given it takes many many times longer to charge a car than it does to fill one with petrol, this isn't really a surprise.
