Samsung discontinues Note 7 for "consumers' safety"

South Korean tech giant Samsung has permanently ceased production of its high-end Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after reports of devices it had deemed safe catching fire.

There's a wonderful 'fireproof' box that Samsung sends out so you can ship the phone back to them.

I wonder what the mood in Samsung HQ was when the first report of a replaced/repaired Note 7 catching fire was like.

So, will they bring out a Note 8 or come up with a completely different name for that size of phone in their range?
