IE6 is just a hazard for the workforce. Apart from legacy tools, there really is no excuse for keeping it going. Microsoft are pushing people to move to IE8, or at least IE7.

Microsoft want IE6 to disappear, modern web developers want it to disappear. The only people who want it to stay are lazy contractors who can't be arsed to update their code or people who learnt all the tricks of IE6 back in the dark ages and don't want to learn how to develop web sites properly... :(

Legacy tools might be the reason why we still use it. Our accounting system is accessed over the browser. But I am sure if it was a risk, insurance company employing 27000 worldwide and operating on all continents would upgrade...
