True. The cycle will begin again.

Local services will be on their knees, public infrastructure will be falling apart at the seams and any and all public assets will be sold. The middle classes will be okay though.

Then labour will get in, spend too much money and run up debts. Public services and government will be pissing money up the wall, infrastructure will get investment, but most of it will be wasted. The lower classes will be okay though.

I don't think it matter who wins the election. There will be massive budget cuts regardless. Either that or we'll bankrupt the country.

If the Scots want to get to us at that speed; let them pay for it all and pay us to rent the ground for the lines. We'll pay back some of the rent through our ticket prices if we ever choose to use the line to go "that" way - then all will be well. Of course there'll need to be a border control stop in place.
