65% of people I've discussed it with certainly didn't.
The answer was nearly always the same:
* I'm not paying to watch adverts.
* If local news isn't commercially viable, why not just have it on the BBC and let ITV show profitable programmes.

More to the point, local news is rubbish. 99% of the time, there simply isn't enough worthwhile news from the local area to fill 30 minutes, so you get low grade lack of human interest stories.
