iPlayer on PS3 is pretty good, the quality is almost broadcast...and I live in the middle of nowhere :) I'm looking forward to the other terrestrial channels being made available soon, fingers crossed. Of course HD iPlayer would be a bonus, but I don't think I'll be using that until they can upgrade my exchange to 24mps.

I worry with this Freesat change though that you will need a new Freesat box. I haven't got one yet, and I'd be loathe to buy one if I knew that they could become obsolete as quickly as this generation of boxes might have done.

It's why they all have ethernet ports on this reason :)

Plug in, update it needed, enjoy

You would need the HD box for HD iPlayer though

That said, I'm waiting to see if any new ones come out touting the feature before I get one

My DVB-S and DVB-S2 devices get automatic downloads over the satellite when new firmware is made available... I guess it depends on the manufacturer, whether they have their own update channel or not.
