Get the price right and it'll be genius, but this is Sony we're talking about

I have some confidence in Sony. They've made a few bad DRM calls in the past, but on the whole they're a pretty intelligent organisation.

Time will tell.

Don't get me wrong, I own and have used many of their products, but they keep making the same mistakes over and over again - overpriced games systems, mind-meltingly bad PR statements, formats that actually have people going out of their way to avoid them... They still seem to think they're a premium brand these days, when probably the only working instance of that sort of nonsense is their laptops (I'm assuming they sell well)

I'm probably a little out of touch here. I'm still rather prone to my eyes glazing over, and saying "It's a Sony...!"
