http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World- ... 3798?f=rssI wouldn't have figured an AK-47 round would have travelled 2 or 3 miles and still had the sort of velocity to come through a church roof* , but then I'm no expert *Maybe a Barrett sniper rifle or something like that

I'm guessing that if the bullet were fired at a certain angle, it would reach the height required to build up a sufficient velocity to go through the roof when it came back down. It all sounds rather CSI ish but you've gotta feel for the parents.

Fundamentally it's just ballistic physics. If you fire a bullet at the right angle, it'll hit the ground eventually at a fair percentage of the velocity it left the barrel doing. Acceleration due to gravity counteracting air resistance and what have you. That's more than enough to kill someone. I always remember back in the day when there was war in Beirut, you'd see people dancing in the streets firing AK-47's into the air. None of the people seemed to have figured out that what goes up must come down... Jon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUS89-_f ... L&index=12I doubt a bullet has a terminal velocity much higher than that and remember after going through a roof it ain't gonne be doing terminal velocity. I don't think the idea of shooting it up in the air and it falling and killing someone is plausible.

Hmm.
I think a scientific study is required.
Line up more four year olds for testing purposes!

Couldn't we just call the CSI people and ask them to set up a series of experiments? With the funky music and visual effects they'd have it done in 30 seconds flat.

Only if that Catherine girl's involved, the MILF-esque ex-stripper one

I never really bought into CSI NY for whatever reason, so I've never seen her in the show.
