While it's definitely scaremongering, it's hardly an ideal situation by the sound of it either :?

I hate to agree with the government, but hear hear.

Don't believe a word of it.

If the Tories are running true to form, like yesterday, by this time tomorrow they'll be saying we have 20 years worth.

Wood and oil here... Enough wood for a winter in the lean-to out back and enough oil for at least a year fits in the tanks und the cellar. 8-)

under thatcher all storage of gas supplies were sold off
they must rely on the storage that is available within the pipeline network

the same applied to water storeage
sell then drain the reservoirs (for housing development) and rely on pipeline storage

that's why we can not, or unable to, store gas and water …

I wouldn't call the North Sea a store as the gas is not readily available. It has to be produced rather than distributed and iirc we don't produce as much as we use.

I believe it's running out fast, and we're net importers since about 2006.

I imagine gas storage is fairly expensive, but this isn't the first story suggesting we don't have enough. I remember stories a while back saying that many countries have months of storage. When prices peak, this enables them to stop importing until the price drops again.

Didn't they build some massive gas storage tanks near Milford Haven?
