Five Muslim men who protested at a home-coming parade in Luton where soldiers were called murderers have been convicted of being abusive.

The charges related to a march by The Royal Anglian Regiment through the town in March 2009.

The five men, all from Luton, were convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour likely to cause harassment and distress.

District Judge Carolyn Mellanby said: "I have no doubt it is abusive and insulting to tell soldiers to 'Go to hell' - to call soldiers murderers, rapists and baby killers.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but this is disgusting...

How anyone should be allowed to stand on the streets of England and call our soldiers baby killers is beyond me. Whether you agree with the war or not, this shouldn't be allowed.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but these men died fighting for something they believed in, and whether you like that or not, there is no reason to insult them and add more hurt to their families in this way.

The military are doing the will of the government. Any protests should be directed to Parliament.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

If they hate the British government, the British army and the stupid war we're in then why aren't they over THERE standing up for what they believe in?
