Seriously though, if the EU accedes to the ECHR then the EU will actually be subject the rule of the Council of Europe.

Stop and Search could be done before S44, so long as a PC has grounds for suspicion then it's perfectly legal. There was no need for it to be so vague as to allow the Police to expand it to every aspect of life.

S44 just absolves PCs of any responsibility and they cannot even be asked why they stopped you. No justification, no reasons, no nothing.

The only time I remember that being used in history has been in the former USSR, Nazi Germany and any number of Dictatorships.

It's not a policy that should continue in a Democracy.
