That's 23 units a week by my sums, which seems quite a moderate average.
Some people drink a lot more than others. I drink a lot more than is usually recommended; typically over 3 bottles of wine and a bottle of whisky every week which is 60 odd units.
I imagine for every teetotaller there is probably one of me, and there are those who drink over 300 bottles of vodka a year who would compensate for a lot of "light-weights".
Whisky is one of Scotland's few world-renowned exports, and booze in general contributes enormously to the UK economy and to tax revenue.
