Well, I'm 17 and I just insured an Aprilia RS 125 for £225.50 (fully comp). So there. :P

Scotland is expected to show the lowest increase in car insurance costs.

Only because the cost of Bratty's driving broke their model!

How much does it cost to take the test in the UK now? With the compulsory theory hours and compulsory driving school hours, I think it cost Jessica just under 2,000€ to take her test...

You said you were 3rd party before :?

Also bike insurance != car insurance at all. A bike is a lot less likely to write a car off and cause physical injury to the passengers in the other car.

I could point out that the costs are rising for all drivers, not just them young 'uns. VED is up, petrol is what, 110p a litre... All due to our loveable cuddly government.

No, I found that an insurance company called CIA will insure me fully comp for much less than the other companies. Also it's not bad as my 16 year old mate is paying £350 for a 50cc scooter.

When I took my test three years ago I paid £30 for the theory test, £30 or £60 for the practical test, plus £15 for my provisional licence and I paid £15 an hour for lessons (£405 in total), so for me to be able to drive a car I paid at least £480, friends taking lessons at the same time as me were paying around £20 an hour and having the suggested 45 hours so were paying at least £900 plus all the licence and test costs on top...

many years bback on my test. Approaching a busy traffic light controlled cross roads there was a side road coming in to my right a police car came out of it putting its blues and two's on as it did. I had to do an emergency stop to avoid hitting it. :?

Driving test examiner hit his head on the wind screen 8-)

I passed.:D

My mum did her driving test in my dad's old Rapier, which was kitted out as a rally car - daylighters on the bonnet, forest tyres and full harness seatbelts and it was upgraded to disc brakes and had a blueprinted engine. The problem was, the passenger seatbelt was loose and would flip forward... Not a problem if you were wearing the full harness seat belt.

The instructor got in and my mother asked him to put on his belt, he refused "I've been driving for years blah blah blah..."

They went out and he told her to stop quickly when he tapped his clipboard on the dashboard. My mum's reflexes were quick and she was nervous, as he raised the clipboard, she slammed on the brakes - and stopped without skidding (although the rear wheels probably left the ground  The instructors head smashed against the windscreen before his clipboard reached the dashboard! As he was knocked unconcious, split his head open and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance, my mum failed! :(

BTW, in Germany, you cannot drive a non-driving school vehicle on the public highway until you have a full driving licence, so no private lessons / hours. You can drive to a private testing ground and pay a few Euros for a couple of hours driving around simulated streets with other novices.
