Skin being stretchy is exactly how it works, leaving only fatty tissue to measure.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

A better method would be to use height, weight and waist size in a calculation to correlate healthiness.

TBH waist size itself alone is a better indicator than BMI.

I think the best way for body fat calculations is a combination of height / mass measurements in conjunction with meauring how much skin can be pinched at certain locations around the body.

If you can pinch more than an inch?

You should stop grabbing your penis

Yes but that would be the exception.

The BMI is a waste of space. I've seen skinny people described as "overweight" by that stupid system. It's absurd.

A far better measure is to measure your waist - if it's more than about 34" then you need to start being careful. If it's over 36" you need to start taking action.

Jump up and down. If something wobbles that shouldn't, it's time for action.

Even then it doesn't work for everyone, im a 36" waist and used to play rugby so im pretty stocky and I'm also quite tall

The "start taking action" part is bollocks, what if you are already healthy and take regular exercise and eat right? Some bodies are just not designed to be skinny, it's genetics
