Is that any worse than what some of our politicians have done? While smoking crack is not a healthy thing to do, it was with his own money not on expenses.

How many of us have made similar drunken threats? It is clear that he has a drink problem but nothing that cannot be handled with the right treatment. It looks more like a witch hunt by people trying to push him out of office.

But was he ever drunk or stoned while on duty as it were? If so they have every right to push him out.

If he embezzled funds I'd understand but it's use of a controlled substance, as long as it didn't impact his work who cares?

I'd be suprised to know who HADN'T done anything illegal in our house of commons

Mate I'm grumpy in the morning if I don't have a mug of filter coffee.
I can't imagine the mayor thinking 'gosh that crack's a bit moreish but I'll save it for the weekend.'
It's not really one of those drugs.

None of them are even honest enough to even admit it.

I know that it's an incredibly addictive drug, but what about the professionals with a habit of charlie that rivals that of Charlie Sheen? I'm not saying I agree with it or would do it but it would be naive to believe it's not the vice of choice for others

And I think it's naive to believe it's not going to affect their judgement and work.
I've got flakey students at work that are variously affected by pro-plus tablets, too much weed or too many cans of Monster for breakfast.

Normally we ask if politicians are on crack, when they announce their latest hair brained idea... At least with this guy we know the truth.

True, but if you had ones that were just limiting themselves but capable of their duties would it be an issue?

I've known of a fair few developers (typically old school ones) with very heavy alcohol dependencies holding positions with huge levels of responsibility/risk (one wrote code for altitude control for planes, a bug in code could kill thousands before it would be discovered), used to show up to work steaming, but were capable of doing their job

From the accounts it seemed that it was a one of kind incident though he clearly has issues with alcohol and anger. Those can be treated and once accepted the person can adapt and start treatment is there any further incidents should not happen.
