No of course they weren't, and they had no right to breach New Zealand's sovereign territory either.
Bloom should keep his mouth shut, clearly when anyone from UKIP opens their mouth they invariably worsen the party's image (which wasn't exactly brilliant to begin with).

I can't really find much on the sinking tbh, other than the guy getting killed for going back for his camera I was thinking along the lines of a lengthy, costly endeavor all because of some Green morons, but as I say, I can't find many details. Regarding breaching territory, is there a country who doesn't, directly or indirectly?

I remember the murder of the Greenpeace volunteer in the Rainbow Warrior. The French did it to stop them protesting their nuclear tests on Muroroa. New Zealand were annoyed, and France were embarrassed. All it did was show the French to be bullies and Greenpeace had a surge in donations enough to buy two more boats. It put them on the world map. It actually put more pressure on for a test ban treaty.
For a British MEP to show how much of a moron he is, shames the rest of us. Maybe we need a system where by we can recall MP's and MEPs and re elect someone else?

Quite rightly too. If I was the Prime Minister of New Zealand I would have been peeved, to put it mildly.

I can see his point. Greenpeace don't car about the law, they flout it whenever they want. No court can stop them. Sinking it was a good thing. That bad things were that someone died and that they were in New Zealand waters at the time. They should have boarded it in international waters, taken the crew off then sunk it.

Greenpeace operate in international waters - where there is very little law. There is, however, law in New Zealand. Which the French decided to break. They weren't just in New Zealand's sovereign waters - the boat was DOCKED AT New Zealand. I wonder how the French would like it if we sent the SAS into Marseille and blew up a few yachts.

And that would be piracy. Which is illegal.

Not to mention that it would meet with strong international condemnation.

They didn't like it when we went in and blew the crap out of their navy at the start of WW2 (to stop the Germans getting it).

Like the French ever gave a damn about strong international condemnation. Come to think of it when has anyone ever give a damn about strong international condemnation.

That would be my take on it too - Israel gets flak all the time for it's tactics, but it's soon forgotten until the next time it happens, then the cycle repeats itself.

Not just Isreal, but Zimbabwe, North Korea, Iran, Syria, and the list goes on.
