Geeky Gadgets has received a tip on how much the Apple iPad will retail for when it goes on sale in the UK. The base 16GB WiFi iPad will be available for £389, the 32GB WiFi model will be available for £439 and the 64GB WiFi model will be available for £489.
I wonder if this is just a ploy by the 'site to generate traffic? I've certainly never heard of www.geeky-gadgets.com before now.

Sounds like mere speculation to me.

Although that is very close to the price I put on them also.

For that price I'd think about getting one of the larger 2 models.

I'll get the cheapest model and add some extra storage with a big SD card.

Whats that? Its not got a what....?

&£% YOU APPLE. YOU ^%£*&$$ &%$£. EAT £$%% %$&£%$£. ARGGHHH.

etc etc

In all seriousness though if I just place the "i am a cynic" cap on my head it does seem omitting an SD slot would mean that they can put out the same device with 3 different size drives, no?

I think that I will be opting for the largest wifi version. I doubt that I will need the 3G option. It could be useful but expensive to buy and run for the few possible times that I could possibly need it. If it could be tethered to an iPhone that would end that problem

I think it depends... My laptop and my desktop have SD card readers (my desktop has a 13 way reader) and I've never used them. Having the SD card reader as an add-on dongle is fine, for me.

It reduces the cost for the basic device, there are less openings to let dust and moisture in and if you need to read SD cards, you can carry around the adapter with you and plug it in when needed - and if SD is dropped / replaced or the reader breaks, you just buy a replacement...

Given the price of an iPod Touch, it isn't that much of a surprise.

Might have to get one. The Wi-Fi model will do me providing the 3G model is more than the £50 more expensive (the price of a Mi-Fi)

I dont want to open that can of worms again but I was looking at two websites the otherday with videos I wanted to watch (one was Spurs Vs Bolton on the thafa.com, the other I cant remember) but they both used flash. That really wouldnt do for me. Is there a way around it at all? Can you view them on a new iMac as I was hoping to get rid of my main PC for one.

Flash is on the Mac. But I have it disabled in both Firefox and Safari on the Mac and in Firefox and IE on my Windows PCs.

iMacs can view Flash web content as they have decent processors in them. Judging from how my CPU meter shoots up it is just as well.
:)

£389  I could buy a real laptop or netbook for that. One that can multi-task.

Though I think that when you actually try one out the price difference will appear irrelevant.

That's right, sensible people with souls and a reason to live will opt for a netbook.
