One wonders if those surveyed have actually had use of the NHS in some capacity, or whether they're all just Daily Mail readers.

Somtimes it's taken a bit of time to see a physio, but that's a very specific localised issue, and other than that it's always been good.

I have to say that I had very good service. I had my appointment very quickly and it all went well. My brother had excellent care from the hospital from his back operation after an injury. Though his GP was useless, but that can be the case anywhere. So I think that they surveyed Daily Mail readers as well.

I find GPs fulfill their purpose, but from experience surgery and referrals on the NHS were pretty poor.

Yes but how long ago did this happen. It has to be recent to be relevant. I will accept that the service is not perfect but that can be down to other factors.

I've found that generally it's the admin that's the issue. The treatment and consultations I've had have been good, but the administrative processes appear bloated and flawed (Luckily I was able to have my surgery privately, for the one time when speed was critical, which sped things along nicely).

I wonder if it's a real "majority" or another one of these "people are happy with body scanners" types of survey?

I've never had an issue with the NHS, there have been a number of emergency situations in my family over the last 6 years or so and their service has been brilliant, even the referral for my mums cataract surgery didn't have a massive waitlist and that wasn't even really urgent. There's too much "middle" management for my liking and a lot of emphasis on targets and less on actually getting the job done, but that's nothing new and things seem to have actually streamlined over the past (I'd say) 7-9 years.

The relevant point is both me and Best Beloved, and our neighbours, have had recourse to the NHS quite a bit in the past few years. We're quite happy with the way it works, once you get past the several layers of bureaucracy.

My sarcastic point was, for anyone to claim the NHS isn't doing a good job, they must believe everything they read in the papers.
