There’s an SD card in it.

That makes sense. Thanks.

Our Windows Embedded terminals have either CF Cards or we plug in SATA SSDs, so an SD makes sense.

That was quite a head slap moment this morning on Twitter with @grrrth. For a creative type, he seems to lack imagination... :?

I watched that from a distance. I was surprised too. Not everything will be iPhones.

Well I'm out of ideas ;)

I reckon one might just fit in either of my tobacco tins

I feel I should say right now I have no intention of producing cases of any description for Raspberry Pi.

Just a brief think about the costs of materials would make them prohibitively expensive to produce, completely out of proportion to the cost of the electronics to go in them.

Sorry to disappoint. :(

That is a shame :(

It is. Sadly my skills in that area are negligible, so I doubt I'll be able to do the same kind of job that Heather would.

I'd love a version of BeOS on one. 8-)

I don't think your getting the hang of capitalism HK. You now have a market to gouge... I mean charge a reasonable rate above cost price.

The thing is, it's not going to be useful to most people as a desktop because it's simply not designed for it. It might just be useful as a dedicated media player for the living room, but there are actually some very tiny devices available for a similar price designed for that job and they come with a remote control. If I was commissioning a Cyberpunk PC I would not start from here.

It's got plenty of uses, most of which I probably can't imagine right now, and I'm sure it will evolve over the years. The main thing though is the accessible price enabling many young people to get hands-on experience of coding and hardware. Although there are development boards available at this price already, the Pi blows them away in terms of performance and most importantly ease of use and support.

Personally, I may well end up using one to control the house. Things like intelligent heating control and email enabled alarm systems.

The one you may remember as Marklarr from a previous life showed he lacked a certain imagination. We were a bit stunned, but he wouldn't have it. Luckily the 140 character limit rather restricted the chance of a four-footer riposte about how he didn't get it.
