I've had my Hotmail account since about '96. I'm a little reluctant to give it up after all this time. I say boo to this.
I've had mine since it was first released as well. That said, "hotmail" has been dead for about 5 years or so anyway, they have redirected to live.com for years. It will probably just be the live portal will move to outlook.com.

You can use outlook.com with your hotmail id, or you can create a new id and have you hotmail address as a virtual address that gets sent to your outlook.com address.

Well signed up - never used hotmail always been a Yahoo Account
Anyway Couldn't get my 1st name but did get my full name and my nicknames so a win there
