A 25% off sale might just about bring them into line with the competition.

Nope, the prices are still laughable.

+1. Try 50%.

I doubt that will happen. HMV had a deal with its suppliers and they will get all the stock back if they cannot sell it. They are not that desperate for the cash.

We really need to have proper guidelines at least on, 'Yeah, we know we're up [LIFTED] creek, but lets take orders anyway!'

The online side could be viable and I suspect that will be the only bit of HMV that survives. The whole issue with vouchers could be a nail in the coffin for other vouchers as many people will be upset that their Christmas and birthday presents are worthless. Only accept cash kids, at least they will be redeemable.

Restructuring group Hilco - the owner of HMV Canada - is rumoured to be considering buying some of HMV's 230 UK stores.

There must be a few worth keeping.

Just so long as they don't go before my book arrives :P

As long as you paid with a credit card you should be okay. Debit cards would make you another unsecured creditor with little likelihood of getting anything back. There may be a £100 threshold but I am not so sure.

£2 total

My book's out of stock, but if I'd like to log-in to their administration notice site...

Out of the frying pan into the fire. I was watching some news program about the store closures on the high street and one sector that has also had it bad was games stores. I thought that Game had also gone bust last year? :?

They went into administration and closed a lot of their own shops but they didn't actually fold. They had a massive amount of redundancy in the literal sense in their shops - many towns had two Game shops and the Trafford Centre in Manchester had three! Although what the hell they think they're doing taking over HMV stores I don't know, they're usually in places you'd need to make a pretty high turnover to stay ahead of the rent and rates, that's half of HMV's problem.

+1, they had at least three stores in Belfast alone and two were rather large. Couple that with little cash flow since they charged ridiculous prices for the 2nd hand games they were so determined to warehouse...

I do not go into the town centre that often so it is completely different every time I go there. The problem for retailers is that rents and rates are so high to start with that they need to sell a lot just to cover those and that is before you include wages which probably have not risen for years, for most staff.
