Nope. Remember years ago when that idiot fell asleep in his car, drove off the M62 onto a railway and cause an intercity 225 and a freight train to crash. His insurance company had to pay out for all that. A record amount for a car insurance payout I believe.

By October 2003 Hart's insurers had paid out over £22 million. Gary Hart's insurers, through Hart's name, sued the Department for Transport for a contribution to the damages they were liable to pay to GNER and the victims, on the grounds that the safety barrier was inadequate, and legal ground of contributory negligence, but the case was dismissed.[6]

Actually, won't the home owner/home owner's insurance company be able to claim for the damage off the driver's car insurance? That's what '3rd party' means after all. Always assumed 3rd party wasn't limited to another motor vehicle, it applied to whatever property damage or injuries were caused...

Yes but I was not assuming the home owner was insured. Many are probably cutting insurance as an expensive luxury. If they are insured their insurer will pay for the home owners to get their home fixed as fast as possible and will get reimbursed by the drivers insurance company whenever that happens. Otherwise the home owner would probably get someone to get the compensation for them.
