Though when you have one lobby group to keep them, the NRA and gun manufacturers and another than benefits from the chaos they cause (private prisons) it is hardly surprising that they are stuck with such laws.

Americans are nuts for guns. When I was over in January all they spoke about was sport and guns. I doubt changing the laws would change that.
