I've an awful feeling that's overstating it, but it bodes well for the new Intel chips

It's slower than the old model? That must be the first time speed has been sacrificed for battery life on a new model.

Yes I saw the key note and quite frankly it was impressive. If you cannot get access to a plug at some point then you are doing something wrong.

Really? Some people actually go outside and off the beaten path. I have a friend who lives on a mountain in Malawi, where power is sometimes hard to come by.

Yes but if you know that you are going that far off the beaten track you really should have a solar charger or some other way to recharge your machine. Still a fail.

Generators are really heavy to carry.
Are you seriously saying that someone wanting a long battery life is more of a failure than someone who never leaves the house?
I think 15 hours is a great achievement. Not having to constantly fret about your next charge is a good thing. It's a big reason that tablets are so popular.

For most people if they are going somewhere without power they should either reconsider the laptop or make alternative arrangements for power. I like to spend the long days on the beach in Northern Sweden during the summer, so with a solar panel I can easily stay on the beach 24 hours if necessary. For commuters they can possibly charge their laptops on a train or in a car with the right adaptors. Even if you travel by bike you can get solar powered back packs so that should assist considerably for many people, or a dynamo that will work if there is no sun. My point was that you either have to make alternative arrangements for getting power or wait until e-ink laptops are being sold.
