(As an aside, I met Jungle Bunny when he was in retirement in the Isle of Wight in the 1990s. Nice horse, I was told he was grumpy, but he seemed OK with me.)

At that time we did have Jim Davidson with his "Chalky" It was the tail end of the racism of the 70's with the likes of Alf Garnet and Love Thy Neighbour

I was under the impression that Alf Garnet was lampooning the racism, not actively promoting it.

While his language and blatant racism are not acceptable, his point about giving aid to corrupt dictatorships is valid IMO. Rich countries too. Nigeria is oil rich and has it's own space programme now. Surely other countries are more deserving of our aid?

India also has its own space program and it too has had its aid reduced. The coalition are trying to stop aid going to support corrupt regimes. So his comments were more about a sound bite for something that this government are already doing.
