There was some serious strobing there a second ago... Oh, now it's the revolution of 1917.

I was hoping there'd be an actual space rocket. Ooh, the torch is nearly here. Speech time.

This is brilliant. You know at the beginning the 5th snowflake didn't open? There've been images of Putin watching the ceremony on TV in a suite backstage before he was introduced (this is kind of traditional, the queen wasn't in the stadium at the beginning of the 2012 opening ceremony remember) and on his TV all five snowflakes opened properly.

Image

may be photoshop hoax, but if not it's just bonkers.

So the opening scene of the opening ceremony is meant to climax on five enormous snowflakes hanging from the ceiling expanding to form the five olympic rings. One of the snowflakes entirely refused to expand.

Going well so far!

Was there someone from BP seen near the controls for the fifth ring?

Was awesome. Not a bad show overall, although I think our Olympic flame was better than theirs is :).

Not sure where I saw it, probably El Reg or N24 news channel, but AVG went to Sochi and honey potted mobile phones, laptops and tablets in a café and hotel. The phones and tablet had been hacked before they had finished their coffee (over the wifi) and the laptop was cracked over the hotel wifi within minutes.

It seems this story may be utterly fabricated (or at least wildly sensationalised).

Up early for the men's slopestyle tomorrow. I don't usually drink coffee, but I may need some
