Help children and young people to understand different views, perspectives, and experiences and develop positive relationships both within school and in the local community.
ie. Barinwash children with whatever beliefs the government of the day decides that they should have, not what their parents want them to have.
How long before five year old are taught that homosexuality is normal* and that their parents are not worthy of an opinion and should be mocked if they think otherwise.

*Many families in the UK have religious objections and would say otherwise. It's not for me to judge whether this is right or wrong.

But Dave, do you really think it needs legislation? I agree that the current generation of 20-somethings (I am one) are a different breed to all that has gone before and even people I know 10 years younger than me, are noticeably different in outlook and attitude to my peers. However, education and societal unity are what's needed, not a big stick. No?

That's most of the population, and since we live in a "democracy" it is by definition "Mob Rules"...

We live in a representative democracy, which is a variant where we elect people we believe are smarter than us to make the decisions on our behalf. The sole flaw with the system is they aren't.

Which is why an individual's civil rights always trump democracy IMO. Civil Rights > The demands of "the people".

Which is why I'm for a set of guidelines that the teacher can read, so that it is clear what is expected of them.

I see no reason for legislation.

It has worked with a set of guidelines written in the handbook that employees get when they start the company, with all of my previous employers. I can't see why it couldn't work here...

Your previous employers were twats then.

I've had it written into contract that when I'm wearing the uniform I must do abc and not xyz which is fine and proper.

But if they gave me 'a set of guidelines' on how I should behave out of work I'd tell them where to stick it.

If it was me, I wouldn't be telling them where to stick it. I think they'd be aware pretty quickly.
