If we lose BBC 3 and 4, we’ll get a “compression” of output. That is, the BBC will cut back on what it does because there is less space to put it. So, if you are OK about losing the innovations that brought is programmes like Being Human and Torchwood, then fine. Enjoy your diet of EastEnders and Spooks and Strictly Come Dancing, because Captain Imagination does not visit BBC1 or BBC 2 that often any more. Have you noticed that these are where the “safe” programming lives? Once they have proved themselevs on the letter channels, they find their way to BBC 1 or BBC 2.Torchwood too three whole years to make it to BBC 1.

The BBC should not be about playing it safe. That’s the job of iTV to be honest. Sky and most of the other digital channels import their content from the USA. They are just advert feeders, really.

Okay - big  coming up

BBC Parliament is my favourite channel - touch it and die!

BBC News 24 is too fluffy and has far too much dead space which could be filled with quality old-school investigative journalism. I'd rather see it become much more like Channel4 News. Oh and can we PLEASE get rid of the red colour scheme - it's bloody awful. Come to think of it the music is woeful as well

My main complaint is that far too much of the content on the flagship channels (BBC1, BBC2, Radio1, Radio2) is capital-centred

+1. In fact I was very annoyed when the BBC scrapped Parliamentary coverage in favour of Wimbledon.
