The combination of fat and sugar is genuinely addictive.
Both only occur in nature for short seasons in the form of nuts and fruit. We are programmed to binge on them when they are available to lay down fat for the sparse cold winter months.
Clearly if every day is a binge day and our homes are centrally heated to summer temperatures all year round, then obesity ensues.
It's quite a psychological challenge to overcome our biological heritage. The easiest way is to simply not have fatty or sugary foods in the house. Just say "no"!
