You know the story, don’t you? Fifth Gear is Top Gear - it was what it had been had the BBC not axed it. The production team took the format to Five. Top Gear was then revived in 2002.

Yeah, I know. For all the fact Five does have quite a strong documentary strand - mostly hosted by Chris Barrie it appears - I think a lot of people weren't really willing to take the show seriously simply because of the network it was on. They might have done better going to 4. Or, given it's now been dropped again, it may simply be a validation of the BBCs decision to drop it in the first place..
