It must be quite expensive to be that fat - all the extra food, more expensive airfares, more fuel for the car.  _________________

From what I can make out he was removed because he was too fat to be able to be on the flight for safety issues.
I still don't get how you're penalised for being even a kg over hand luggage allowance but the weight of those flying is never taken into account.

There is an average passenger weight that is used for fuel calculations.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yup but then me and my hand luggage don't weigh the same as others. My total would be more than some and so they should pay less and it would be less than others, so they should pay more.

It's not a truly fair system but it is straightforward, there is enough queing at airports already.

I'm 100% with the airline on this one.
The guy is fat, it is probably self inflicted through eating too much and not exercising enough, what's his problem?
He knows he's fat, he's almost twice as wide as a normal person, it isn't hard to miss.
TBH I have been overweight in the past (only slightly) and I was ashamed that I'd let myself get like that. I don't think I'd leave the house, never mind try flying to another country, if I was that size.
