Just about everyone is online, but now they'll have to match HMV... Even if I was considering one and couldn't get it there, I'd certainly wait for other vendors

You could buy it with a credit card. As it is over £100 the credit card company has to take the risks if they fail to deliver. If no one matches HMV you will lose out.

PS4 details http://www.computerandvideogames.com/39 ... large-hdd/Headset's a good idea, hope the HDD is large to accommodate the games as opposed to large on paper.

I'm at the point where I really want this to be true, cos the level of FAIL could sustain amusement for years http://www.computerandvideogames.com/39 ... ox-rumour/It might even outdo the cockiness Sony acheived from the PS2 onwards, and they've been very lucky to climb back up that slope. I think it says a lot about Microsoft (and Sony at one point) that you couldn't even have ruled this nonsense out from the get-go.

If they insist on an always on connection then they will not see my money. I buy too many second hand games for it to be viable to me. If Sony are not being so draconian then they will retake the console market, unless there is a new console manufacturer out there.

And the company are backing away from it rapidly as well. Maybe they see sense in not always requiring an always on connection. How bad is console game piracy anyway?

Hmm.. damage control, yes. If they've already built it into the system they're building, may be a bit late to rip it out again... On the 360 it's not unheard of. On PS3 it's been much more of a transitory thing - Sony have been very proactive about patching the holes that hackers were using to bypass it's anti-piracy controls, even in the process breaking a few things for legit users. Neither anywhere near the problem of their previous generations though and on the Wii it's pretty much non-existant because nobody can write disks the right size.

Could it be turned on if necessary later? If this is in the next console I will not be buying another console again. I am not interested in multiplayer games and buy genuine disks but do not want to be dependent on internet. Plus my connection is busy streaming TV so I do not want the picture to crash just because the console wants to talk to HQ. Most if not all games I have now need the disc in the drive to play anyway. Thanks for that. I never knew because all my games are legal even if most are second hand. It was something that I never considered.

Though why not stick an emulator chip in that can do that for older games? It would not be that expensive. Though how would they authenticate older streamed games which were not sold with serial numbers? Unless it is another way to get the public to buy another license for its software for another machine.
