The IP address you're accessing from or tracking cookies are the obvious ones. Plus if they have enough data on you, even if you've used different 'identities' to log into things, they can use data analysis to 'tie the bits together' if not 100% accurately, at least 'more than chance' accurately. And they have a lot of data about all of us.

I am sure but I cull my tracking cookies every minute. I am brutal when it comes to tracking cookies. I also get rid of many cookies as well, so they might have a hard time with me, but not most of the population.

Always online is dumb full stop. That price point won't do anyone any favours and they appear to know it. And how desperate are they to get people to use Windows 8? ;) ;) ;)

Agreed to the always on comment, but the price point is not so bad if you get a machine that is worth more as parts. Though maybe it will add millions to the official figures for windows 8 users. I think I might hold off until there are reviews of the always on features. Though the pricing to get people to sign up to Xbox live is also strange. I guess that they are hoping that people forget about that and they still pay even after scrapping the machine.

The price is probably way too high to start with though - from the PS3 launch onwards, all but the early adopters now wait for a price cut, many for the next iteration entirely. That's what I meant with MS's new financing scheme, though part of that will be to hook people on Live. I've often wondered what will happen there if shooters fall out of favour...

The next Xbox rethinks DRM, Achievements and friends

First of all, I've no idea what's going on with pasting in this [LIFTED] browser. Secondly, does that site's fonts look terrible to anyone else? :?

Dear love the publishers who'd try to enact DRM off their own bat - I mean how many bad instances do they need links to?

It's just a flipping awful font. Semi sans serif and not particularly legible. I' sure they've got a designer who thinks it makes them 'stand out'. It makes them stand out in the same way a turd stands out on a snooker table.

I personally do not think the price is too bad if you compare it to a gaming computer. Consoles should be cheaper than gaming pc's. That should be the benchmark. The Xbox live deal will definitely appeal to those that already use it.

Interesting as to what was left out. They have an uphill battle to convince me to buy from all the previous news about always on internet access and blocks on second hand games. Though that could all be irrrelevant come the actual launch. It will be what it is able to do then that makes a bigger difference.

I thought Sony have a patent to block second hand games? The backward compatibility solution actually does not cause me any problems as I do not have a PS3 yet either.

The ease of porting games from PC might make games a lot cheaper and more numerous.

See a post I made in the PS3 thread. There are two UK games expos between E3 in the US (where the PS4 will get a full reveal, you'd assume) and the PS4's likely launch date. You really think they're not going to bring the PS4 to two national shows and get a buttload of free publicity?
