I wonder will we actually see the machine itself.

See a post I made in the PS3 thread. There are two UK games expos between E3 in the US (where the PS4 will get a full reveal, you'd assume) and the PS4's likely launch date. You really think they're not going to bring the PS4 to two national shows and get a buttload of free publicity?

This. Is. Sony!

It will also not be free. They might have a big stand at the exhibition. Though to not have the consoles there would be a disaster, so ernie might be right, lets hope he is wrong.

Insider claims next Xbox $300 with monthly contract

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/40 ... er-claims/

Unless they've somehow gotten Kinnect to function without leaving you feeling tired and bored, it's alleged cost inclusion might not do much for Xbox's first year sales at those prices... and I'm sure many remember early noisy fans and the RROD too

I am not so sure it is a great deal. You have to sign up to something that you do not really want, another mis-selling scandal in the making.

Next-gen Xbox will work offline - report

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/40 ... ne-report/

That sounds a fcuksight more sensible, though even 'messing around' with always-on is asking for trouble...

If you are doing things like playing a blu-ray or a game in single player mode why do you need an alway on connection? If you were to play multiplayer online against people elsewhere you would need an always on connection for that purpose, but not if two of you were playing on the same console. It seems a step towards common sense. Though what really surprises me is that they even considered such a policy or even allowed it to be announced publicly. They need to consider sacking a few people for making stupid announcements.

'We can't even get our store to work!'

Some common sense, though maybe they are concentrating on fixing the store?

They continue to tinker around the edges as usual - it takes ages to load anything, and their offers and demos... You go into them through the storefront offer and it's still the old RRP, or the demo only gives you the option to buy. Or not everything has been uploaded at once. Or...

Could it be regional pricing? I have noticed deals for iOS apps supposedly free but nothing of the sort. So maybe the deal only applies in the US where many of these newsletters originate?

There a degree of that - offers differ between regions so you could I suppose get confused if you're (say) reading a US website - however it is also true that Sony's EU online delivery is a shambles in all sorts of ways; they frequently don't get the shop updated until some time after details of offers or updates are publicised leaving people frustrated, there have been things which were supposedly free have taken literally months to turn up (e.g. 'buy this get that as well', the download code for 'that' turns up months later or sometimes never), there's almost inevitably at least one item mispriced in each week's update, things which are available in all other regions never turn up at all - and we're not talking about games which have to be localised, we're talking about avatar pictures..

The classic example is Counterstrike Global Ops. Came out on the US playstation store like six months ago. Came out worldwide on the Xbox six months ago. As far as I know, it still hasn't shown up on the EU playstation store. That's the most obvious but it's far from the only example.

And that's without going into the issue that download speeds from the store are frequently diabolical, so even if you want is there it takes sometimes days to download it.

The back room boys are basically a bunch of clowns and the guys running the official EU playstation blog take an awful lot of stick for something that isn't their fault, because they're the ones who have a public presence so they get all the actually pretty legitimate frustration of their customers thrown at them. As a result, the average burnout for staff running the blog seems to be about three months...

They need to put the two departments together. Though Sony seem to be getting their act together but will it be enough?
