He has som valid points like background loading and loading updates when console is not being used. Though if people Ian household are also streaming a movie they will not want anything else running that could interfere with that. It is how they manage it. If the game is unplayable without a connection then they have failed. No legal user objects to them being able to check that the game is legal, but the moment it affects legal users they have failed.

Hmmm...

I can understand why they would not want to delay into 2014, as that would mean losing out on the lucrative Christmas season here, though is first mover advantage really as crucial as they think? I got an Xbox because of compatibility, and at the time the PS3 was in a format war with HD-DVD.

Yes that I can believe. Sony might be profitable now but possibly only because of the devaluation of the Yen and nothing to do with their actions. They do not really have that many compelling products now, yet even 8 years ago they were still coming out with great products.

On that note, if I was a Sony creditor I'd be calling it in

Well we will all have an idea of its future once the PS4 is out.

Did anyone else here about the Hedge fund investor who suggested selling off the movie studio?

Nintendo are in a difficult position, though it does not help when other developers have problems developing for the platform. They need to make sure that there a lots of games for the platform and so find out why they cannot get developers interested and deal with that first, and if necessary take their comments on board when they develop a new console.
