What about the boy of 16 or 17 whose girlfriend is 15? They could be put on it.

My understanding is that not everyone who is put on the register is automatically on it for life, it's only life at the moment for the more serious offenders, and correlates to their jail term (this was watching the news with half an ear last night so could be wrong). It's unlikely that someone in the above circumstances would even get a jail term (I'm aware of friends who ended up in the situation, and once the police were satisfied that nothing had been 'forced' they were happy to let it lie (the girl was about a week short of her 16th birthday when it happened anyway)).

As long as common sense prevails why is this an issue. Those with life terms will be unlikely to get out anyway for such an offence. Minor ones should not even be on there, especially if consensual.

Agreed, but that's not the way the tabloid press currently operate sadly. They tend to take the worst possible case and run with that as headline.

Yes I would agree. I find that if it is Daily Fail or Express take everything with a huge pinch of salt.

That doesn't sound like an experience I would wish on anyone. Nor do I see why it would count as a condition of entry into a discussion on the subject. And let's face it, it's not like sexual offenders are the only people you wish death upon. You seem to be very much in favor of killing people as a general principle.
