I have to agree. iOS would give the project longevity.

Good, then we need to swap out another 20 desktops, with iOS desktop devices...  iOS isn't an option. The project is complete, runs on the desktops, but the customer wants the management to also sit at a table, without the laptop screens being in the way, so they want a tablet, for doing the review of the data. The app is web based (intranet), it just needs a browser that can run Java, running on a tablet. Moving to iOS would severly restrict the flexibility of the system, especially in the future.

Well why not contact Microsoft to see which compatible tablets there are? That seems to be the logical solution.

Dave, I wasn't suggesting the iOS as a replacement, just that your client needs to reevaluate what their criteria and strategy are. Ultimately they need to decide how important this is to them and flexible they're willing to be. You know this, I'm sure.
If there isn't a tablet available that'll run their software, then they have three choices.
1. Change their software to something that will run on a tablet.
2. Build their own tablet device.
3. Do something else, like maybe use a laptop with a hinged touchscreen that'll fold flat.

I would add get a tablet that can be formatted to run with the OS and Java that will do it for them. Actually that might be what Big_D is looking for for his clients. Whack your own OS and and Java and he might have a solution.

They are willing to buy a few tablets for 6-8000€, they aren't willing to invest 50,000€ to rebuild the App in iOS. We've already suggested convertibles, but they also don't have good battery life... They currently use laptops, which are connected to the mains, but they want to get rid of the cables and the want to look at each other, when they sit at the conference table, not be hidden behind screens. I'm guessing convertibles with power cables or having to swap batteries at lunch time is going to be the most realistic solution, in the current market.
