Yes, the police are telling citizens to stay off the streets and people in the area who are contributing to the BBC Live Feed say it's like a ghost town. One guy heard shooting and took cover and found that a bullet had come through his wall and straight through the chair he'd previously been sitting on. It would be good if they can capture Tsarnaev alive but it does look unlikely.

If armed he will probably be hard to take alive. The motives for the bombing if it is them may never be known. If it is not them who bombed Boston then we may never know did because of this possible wild goose chase.

Well that seems to be that unless they can persuade Tsarnaev to inform on any other sleeper cells/contacts. At the moment it looks like the older brother became radicalised and in turn got his younger brother to go along. No doubt much more to come in the days ahead.

I doubt that there are any other cells that he would know about. Like you said his brother was radicalised. I bet the Muslims in America are waiting for reactions in the media.

If he does know about them, then theyr doin it rong. The whole point of a 'cell' structure in this sense is to keep knowledge segregated so if one cell is captured/compromised, the rest are not exposed. At most he'll know one or two other people, who if they had an ounce of sense are long gone.

And with most cells they only know the other cell members and only one knows anyone higher up. Since the older brother was the instigator I suspect that only he knew who higher up was advising the cell, so that could be a dead end in terms of the investigation.

So now a pressure cooker is a WMD? Half the kitchens in the western world need to inspected.

I've got no objection to whatever large, weighty book they decide to throw at him but that's a bit nonsensical. That statute is designed for people who use chemical weapons or such in warfare or in genuine acts of mass terrorism. There are IRA guys who cooked up bigger bombs than that before breakfast. That a percentage of the population of Boston paid for.

I've been thinking that ever since I heard of the bombs, and the hypocrisy of this guy in particular is astounding
Quote:
Peter King, chairman of the House subcommittee on counterterrorism, criticised the FBI. "This is the firth case I'm aware of where the FBI has failed to stop someone," he told Fox News Sunday, going on to cite the cases of al-Qaida recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki, Little Rock shooter Carlos Bledsoe, the accused Fort Hood killer Nidal Malik and alleged American-Pakistani terrorist David Coleman Headley.

"This is the latest in a series of cases like this … where the FBI is given information about someone as being a potential terrorist. They look at them, and then hey don't take action and then they go out and commit murders," King said.

Really, Peter? Cos you seem to struggle with recognising terrorists yourself

I wonder how long it will be before Amazon and Timothy Whites have to give the police lists of people who bought a pressure cooker? Only last week, Mrs Moneypenny on Superscrimpers was recommending pressure cookers as a money saving tip. Is she linked to Al Qaeda?

After 16 hours of interrogation, Mr Tsarnaev stopped responding to investigators' questions after being read his legal rights to remain silent and have a lawyer.

News CLICKY
America is getting more like Nazi Germany every day. They just ignore peoples rights that are enshrined by law. It's getting more and more common.
Hey America......You're supposed to bet better than them. Don't stoop to their level.

Godwinned.

They are getting more ridiculous. The media were discussing whether to try him as an enemy combatant and water board him. So now the media are positively encouraging the torture of their own citizens, but what about denying him his right to bear arms? Not even mentioned.

This looks like they are clutching at straws.

Quote:
The trio were not accused of any involvement in the bombing itself. But in a footnote in the court papers, the FBI said that about a month before the bombing, Tsarnaev told Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev that he knew how to make a bomb.

When I was at university a student tried making rocket fuel in the dorms and it did not turn out so well. Special Branch were involved along with anti terrorist units because his home town was Aldershot. I think he went back to university the following year.
