My parents had a stairway approved in their new house, built it then the LPA made them do it again slightly differently after being approved for the planning already.

If they change the decision after the building work has been done that they approved then they should pay for the changes. Unlikely but might make changes rarer than rocking horse poo.

I wouldn't have a clue, but as I said in my first post we need to know who authorized the cuts.

I sounds like it was a committee at some stage. There were loads of consultants brought in and it sounds like on of them brought in that change.
