History is quite a useful subject later in life. It explains why things are done a certain way. In fact the Niall Ferguson, who is making this request has actually suggested that if bankers and economics had actually studied economic history the economic crisis might have been a lot less severe. It is hard to fault. Though that does presume that they are actually mindful of the fact when they actually start with banks.
